LG G3 vs. LG G4 rumored specs: Can LG repeat the same success with upcoming smartphone?

LG has had a thoroughly profitable period, having sold 59.1 million smartphones in 2014. The company's current flagship smartphone possesses hardware specifications that are in line with the other flagships that were released during that period, but the G3's lethal combination of features makes it a very successful smartphone. The only question that remains is, how is LG going to top this one?

For starters, the company's upcoming flagship device, the G4, will be equipped with a 64-bit Snapdragon 810 chipset running an octa-core processor. The company's recently launched G Flex 2 possesses the same chipset coupled with 3 GB of RAM (32 GB internal storage variant). It is possible that the G4 will possess 4 GB of RAM, which is the limited amount of RAM that 32 bit operating systems can support.

In addition, the upcoming G4 is also being rumored to be fitted with a 5.5-inch display that will be rendering a 3K resolution, compared to the G3's 2K resolution (2560 by 1440 pixels). 3K resolution, in dimensional terms, measures 2880 by 1620 pixels and although the resolution will turn everything on the display as "eye candy," it will put an equal amount of strain on the battery life.

Similar to the G3, the G4 is also expected to be shipping in 16 GB and 32 GB internal storage capacity variants, along with an option to upgrade the storage capacity to 128 GB through a microSD slot. The rear camera of the G4 might be equipped with a 16-megapixel sensor as opposed to the G3's 13-megapixel camera.

The Snapdragon 810 chipset present inside the G4 will be providing future owners with a Category 9 LTE modem, which will be able to deliver download and upload speeds of 433 Mbps and 100 Mbps respectively. Compared to the G3's Category 4 modem, the Category 9 LTE modem will have no competition.

It is expected that the G4 will be released during the second quarter of 2015 and will carry an off-contract price of $649.99, which is the same price tag that the G3 was stamped with upon its release.

Eating - and eating together - is never a side note in the biblical story. It is one of the ways God forms community, renews covenant, and reveals Himself.
