LG G4 specs rumors: Direct competitor of Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and iPhone 6 Plus?

LG Electronics has not announced the exact LG G4 release date, but the handset will reportedly enter the phablet category and will face off with Samsung's Galaxy Note 4 and Apple's iPhone 6 Plus.

One of the clues that the LG G4 is bound to become a phablet is because the handset will reportedly include a new stylus dubbed as G Pen, which is similar to Samsung's S Pen. This is supported by the new patent filed by LG at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office early this month. The filing described the gadget as an electronic handheld device for "wireless receipt, storage and/or transmission of data and messages."

The South Korean-based company also trademarked the "G Scrawl," which is speculated as the software that will support the stylus. The details about the stylus are still scarce, but the rumored G-Pen has sparked speculations that the company will include it in the LG G4, which, in turn, makes speculators believe the device will be a phablet.

Although the company already released a phablet known as the LG G3 Stylus, a smartphone with a writing instrument, the smartphone failed to be popular since it has lower grade specs and features than the original LG G3. Thus, LG is allegedly planning to come back with a vengeance by releasing a high-end phablet that will ramp up sales.

LG seems to be more prepared than before as reports claim that it ceased the production of the LG G Pro line in favor of the LG G4.  The company is also said to use all of its resources in developing the LG G4 handset.

According to rumors, the G4 will include a bezel-free 5.3-inch screen display with quad HD or 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution. It is also speculated to have a Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 chipset with 64-bit architecture or an octa-core Nuclun processor developed by LG itself, to be paired with 4 GB of RAM. Other purported features are: 32 GB and 64 GB storage variants with microSD slot for additional storage, Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system, 20.7-megapixel rear camera with Optical Image Stabilization technology, and 3500 mAh battery.
