At one point or another, these two would be pitted against each other: the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and the LG G4. To help undecided people pick one phone over the other, here's a look at the features of these premium phones.

Phone Arena reports that the Galaxy Note 5 — unveiled in Samsung's Unpacked press event on Aug. 13 — was already pitted against the LG G4, a competitor that was deemed worthy of it. One of the aspects that was compared was the material used for both phones. The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is a combination of Gorilla Glass 4 and metal, while the LG G4 opted for malleable plastic coupled with a leather back (one of the options that can be chosen).

Under the hood, the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is powered by an Exynos 7420 SoC, a noteworthy solution in place of octa-cores. The LG G4 uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 SoC, needing 6 cores in total. Compared to the Note 5, the G4 will reportedly lag behind in benchmark tests because of the superior Exynos.

In terms of the display, the Galaxy Note 5 has a 5.7-inch super AMOLED display which is said to be "the best screen on a smartphone right now." In contrast, the G4 boasts a slightly smaller 5.5-inch LCD display. It's a good screen but, compared to an AMOLED display such as Samsung's, some people may find it lacking. 

Both phones are already running Android 5.1. Samsung's made the transition look classy with an upgraded version of TouchWiz UI layer, while LG has UX 4.0, which, according to Extreme Tech, pales in comparison because it reportedly looks too bland when placed side-by-side with the competition. 

The choice between these two phones is, of course, entirely up to the consumer.
