LG G4 vs LG G4 Beat specs: What to expect from new variant

A reliable source recently leaked new images of the mid-range LG G4 S, providing a glimpse of the smartphone's design, specs and features. But now, South Korean multimational company LG Electronics has announced that the LG G4 S would be bearing the name "LG G Beat."

The LG G Beat is a variant of the previously successful LG G4 handset released last April. Here are the specs and the differences between the two.

"The LG G4 Beat retains the best features and functions of the LG G4, delivering value without compromising performance or usability," LG said in a statement.

"Our goal with the LG G4 Beat was to create a phone that was not only well- balanced in terms of display, camera, performance and design but also delivered terrific value and satisfaction," said Jun Cho, LG president and CEO.

The LG G4 Beat will sport a 5.2 inch IPS LCD display screen with a 1080 x 1920 resolution. It will have an 8 mega pixel rear facing camera and a 5 mega pixel front facing camera. Internally, it is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 615 processor, along with 1.5 GB RAM and 8 GB internal storage.

LG said its primary camera would come with laser auto focus and color spectrum sensor. The LG G4 Beat also retains the original G4's manual mode, among others.

The original LG G4 sports a 5.5 inch IPS LCD display screen with the same 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution. It packs Qualcomm's Snapdragon 808 processor, 3 GB RAM and expandable 32 GB memory.

The LG G4 Beat is powered by a 2300 mAh battery while the original G4 comes with a larger 3000 mAh battery. GSM Arena reports that the LG G4 Beat will be available in ceramic white, metallic grey and shiny gold colors.

LG added that the new LG G4 Beat smartphone would be launched first in the European market, specifically Germany and France, and later in the Latin American market, specifically Brazil. The company will later release the new phone to other international markets such as Canada, Russia, South Africa and Singapore.
