LG G4 release date and specs: Q3 launch, handset will not pack LG G Pen Stylus

LG working on a phablet, suggest new trademark patent for a LG G Pen.LG

Latest rumors suggest that the alleged LG G Pen stylus will not land on the forthcoming LG G4 but rather in a new mediocre handset said to be the successor of the LG G3 Stylus.

The LG G3 Stylus is a variant of the LG G3 with a large screen and stylus, which looks like an average phablet. Specifically, the G3 Stylus features a 5.5-inch qHD IPS (960 x 540 pixels) screen display and a quad-core processor clocked at 1.3 GHz. The smartphone also packs 1 GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel rear shooter, a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, and 3000 mAh battery capacity. These features are slightly below the LG G3's.

A device with LG-H631 model number, suspected to be the LG G4 Stylus, was spotted in a leaked document with project code P1S cited by My LG Phones. According to the document, the handset will feature a screen display with 1280 × 720 pixel resolution. The report added that it will come out in the third quarter of the year.

Meanwhile, the LG flagship smartphone, the LG G4, will reportedly feature a 5-inch screen display with quad HD (1440 x 2560 pixels) resolution. It will be powered by Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 810 processor paired with a bigger RAM, along with a 16- to 20-megapixel rear shooter, and longer battery. The smartphone will also run with the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop OS.

Although there are speculations that the LG G4 will be released in March at the Mobile World Congress, a report from Korean media source The Chosun Ilbo stated that the handset will skip the aforementioned trade show as the company is still working on "perfecting" the smartphone. The report also cited an unnamed LG executive revealing minor information about the company's plans on its new smartphone.

"We rolled out the G3 in May last year so we do not plan to unveil the G4 at this year's Mobile World Congress and spend more time perfecting the new phone," said the executive.
