Data and device security is one of the features that some tech-savvy users are looking for in premium flagship. If the current speculations are proven true, then the LG G5 will launch next year with the latest security options integrated.

The rumor about the new G5 having improved security like fingerprint and iris scanners have floated as early as May.

In a report by Phone Arena earlier this year, it was mentioned that LG Electronics was already working with a South Korea-based biometrics company to integrate an iris scanner into the G5. Reportedly, the company, Irience, has already completed laying the groundwork for the feature to be included in the upcoming flagship, laying out its finishing touches and polishing the iris scanner assembly for the G5.

The latest flagships to launch an iris scanner feature were Microsoft's new Lumias, to optimize the Windows Hello feature of the new Windows 10 platform. Meanwhile, as more and more flagships launch with one form or another in terms of biometrics security, TheBitBag was on the fence regarding the LG G5's rumored iris scanning feature and biometrics option for mobile devices in general. According to the industry follower, biometrics security was never a famous, even needed, feature particularly on smartphones.

Meanwhile, it is still unclear if LG will forego a fingerprint scanner in favor of a retina one, or if the two biometrics features will both make it to the LG G5.

Aside from an iris scanner, the upcoming LG G5 is also rumored to be launching as a combination of all-new and much-improved LG features. According to Venture Beat, one possible feature that might make it to the G5 is a dual-display option, which LG already integrated on the recently-released V10.

The industry follower said that that G5 might launch next year with a second, smaller ticker display on the top, and the feature will be one of LG's signature flagship selling points for 2016.
