While the LG G4 still enjoys a following among flagship fans, some can't help but wonder how the South Korea-based company hopes to top it.

With the latest speculations about the upcoming flagship lineup already floating online, how will the new LG G5 be different from its predecessor?

According to BizTek Mojo, one particular area that most fans would likely notice is the display. When the LG G4 launched, it featured a 5.5-inch IPS LCD display, with LG's homegrown tech making it a QHD screen with 1440 x 2560 resolution. However, for this year, the industry follower said that LG might switch to an emerging trend and fit the G5 with an OLED screen. Meanwhile, although it might not be noticeable at first glance, the G5 will also have a larger 5.6-inch display. In addition, the G5 is also rumored to come out with 4K resolution.

According to The Bit Bag, not only will LG improve its display tech for the G5 but the design as well. The industry observer said that LG's decision to have a hybrid look of polycarbonate, metal, and leather for the G4 seems lacking when compared to other premium flagships like the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the HTC One M9. For the G5 iteration though, LG is speculated to be coming back to an all-metal, unibody build, which although much more common and conventional, will give the upcoming flagship a premium, high-end look.

Of course, observers are expecting that the internals of the upcoming G5 will make the iteration an upgraded version of the previous iteration. The latest rumors suggest that while the G5 will retain some features such as a fingerprint scanner and a high-end smart camera assembly, under-the-hood specs will make it better than the G4.

Pocket Lint listed the LG G5 to feature a Snapdragon 820 processor, at least 3 GB of RAM, and 32 GB of storage. In addition, rumor has it that LG will be featuring a "Magic Slot" in the G5, expanding the unit's features with a number of attachments.

While LG still has to come out with details on the G5, observers expect the new iteration to come out during the first half of the year, possibly before summer.
