After revealing that their next flagship phone will no longer have "Friends" support, LG recently clarified the speculations about the possible inclusion of an iris recognition module for LG G6.

A source from LG Innotek reportedly reached out to GSMArena to correct the reports claiming that the upcoming LG G6 smartphone will come out with an iris scanner.

According to the report, the electronics component manufacturer confirmed that the iris recognition module has been developed by their company. However, there are still no reports if it will be used in LG's upcoming flagship smartphone.

The iris scanner from LG will reportedly offer the same function as the one from Samsung. But unlike the one used in the discontinued Samsung Galaxy Note 7, where the primary camera at the back and the secondary selfie camera in front have separate components, LG's version will come out with an all-in-one sensor.

Using a single sensor could reportedly lower down the production cost of the device if it will be featured in the upcoming LG G6. It could also lessen the size taken by two separate sensors. This means that the price and dimensions of the upcoming device will be less compared to other flagship smartphone devices in the market.

But while the use of an all-in-one iris scanner for LG G6 remains unconfirmed, other rumors claimed that the upcoming device will have a 5.3-inch Quad-HD display screen with possible support for 4K videos, a built-in 32 GB storage, a Snapdragon 830 processor, and the latest Android 7.0 Nougat operating system. It is also expected to have the USB Type-C charging ports and fingerprint scanning capacities.

Rumors also suggest that the device will be unveiled by the South Korean mobile manufacturer sometime in February, and it could possibly cost around $500 to $600 when it reaches the market.
