LG G7 2018 release date, specs rumors: New image reveals a super bright 6.1-inch LCD display

LG has already confirmed the arrival of its 2018 flagship smartphone next month. However, the details remain scarce regarding the all-new design and features of the LG G7. Fortunately, the leaked render of the handset has surfaced online, days before the expected launch of the LG G7. The device will sport a 6.1-inch screen display with increased brightness settings, although it is interesting to note that the render shows the G7 sticking with the LCD panel.

According to The Verge, the latest LG G7 ThinQ leak shows the smartphone having a 6.1-inch Super Bright screen display with QuadHD+ resolution. To note, last year's LG G6 sports a 5.7-inch display. The G7 ThinQ will also feature an all-screen display with notch feature on the top portion of the screen, akin to the iPhone X's signature design. Thanks to its razor-thin bezels, the LG G7 has an all-screen front design and 19:5:9 aspect ratio.

However, the catch on the LG G7's screen is that the South Korean tech firm chose to keep the LCD technology instead of upgrading to OLED panel. There is no certain reason why LG will use an LCD screen for the G7 smartphone, knowing that the OLED technology provides more advantage. However, the LCD panel is cheaper than OLED, which will bring down the price of the LG G7.

Going back to the LG G7's notch display, it was also tipped that this feature will be made optional for the users. One may opt to change the display design to a more classic look, filling in the left and right side of the notch with black bars to recreate a top bezel.

The LG G7 also boasts the screen's super bright setting, in which the LCD screen can emit brightness of up to 1,000 nits, exceeding the usual 600 nits of brightness of the current LG smartphone models. The super bright display will help the users view their handset's screen clearly even in direct sunlight.

The final specs and features of the LG G7 ThinQ will be announced at the company's special launch event in New York City on May 2.
