LG G7 release date, specs rumors: Leaked render teases large screen area and more

The LG G6, featuring slimmer bezels and Hi-Fi DACLG website

The LG's G7 smartphone might be gunning for the top spot in the market this year, and they're planning to do it by being the first smartphone of 2018 with the biggest screen to body ratio.

Website Tiger Mobiles recently posted a render of the new phone where it shows the entire front surface of the device. If rumors are true, then this will be the largest screen LG will ever place on their phones to date judging by how narrow the phone's bezels are from all sides.

The image also shows the phone sporting a dual camera which would give the G7 a major boost in image and video quality. This is a noticeable change in designs as its predecessor had dual cameras at the back of the device.

According to the website, the device will also include a fingerprint sensor for security purposes, this is more in line with the Apple iPhone's style, that uses fingerprinting for identifying the phone's true owner. Nothing has been mentioned so far if the phone will also adapt the iPhone's facial recognition system or the Samsung Galaxy S9's iris scanner which has been a recently speculated feature.

System-wise, the G7 will be powered by a Snapdragon 835 chipset, which implies that the manufacturers designed the phone with continuous use in mind, as the Snapdragon 385 focuses on prolonging battery life while delivering excellent visual display, which, coupled with the large screen, would make the device suitable for watching high definition videos and playing mobile games.

The device will have 6 gigabytes of RAM for smooth operation and will have a Quick Charge 4.0 feature. Snapdragon developers Qualcomm states in their webpage that the Quick Charge 4.0 function gives the phone up to five hours of battery life just by charging the device for five minutes.

LG has remained silent in regard to other details surrounding the G7, but further information is expected to be revealed in the coming weeks.

The device is rumored to be targeting an April 2018 release, according to various South Korean mobile network operators.
