There is a lot of uncertainty regarding the fate of the LG G7 smartphone, which is no longer expected to launch at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 next week. Nevertheless, the business continues for LG as the South Korean tech firm is reportedly unveiling a brand-new flagship smartphone sometime in June. The mystery handset is codenamed "Judy," and according to the latest leaks, the smartphone will feature a 6.1-inch display.

The latest information about LG's upcoming 2018 flagship smartphone was gathered by the ever-reliable tech tipster Evan Blass, which is detailed in Venture Beat. It was learned that the said handset will sport a massive 6.1-inch screen display. Like the LG G6, the device will have a tall appearance with 18:9 aspect ratio. The LG 2018 smartphone is not expected to follow Samsung's lead by utilizing an OLED panel for its new premium handset. However, the phone's screen is still going to be special because of the MLCD+ panel.

According to Tech Radar, the LG 2018 smartphone will boast improved power efficiency because of the MLCD+ panel. Compared with the average LCD screen, the MLCD+ panel will promote low-power consumption. While the screen can support high amount of brightness, it can save up to 35 percent of power compared with the regular IPS LCD panel.

Other rumored features of the LG 2018 flagship smartphone include Qualcomm's latest high-end mobile chipset, the Snapdragon 845, 4 GB of random-access memory (RAM), and 64 GB built-in storage. The handset is expected to boast a dual rear camera with f/1.6 aperture. It is likely that the smartphone will receive the same artificial intelligence (AI) camera features of the upgraded LG V30, which will arrive at the MWC 2018 this month.

It is not certain if the 6.1-inch "Judy" smartphone is actually the LG G7, which is thought to be the company's flagship device in 2018. Earlier reports suggested that the LG G6 successor would be showcased at the MWC 2018, although it appears that LG would grace the event with the new LG V30S instead. The company, just like the other tech giants, is likely trying to avoid direct competition with the Samsung Galaxy S9, which is confirmed to launch during the MWC. The 2018 LG flagship is now expected to be presented at a standalone event in June.
