LG earlier claimed that their LG V20 will be the first smartphone to run Android 7.0 Nougat. Many did not believe it since it is always a Nexus smartphone that has that distinction. However, Google confirmed the news on its website that the phone will indeed run the latest operating system out of the box.

The LG V20 is another premium smartphone poised to go head to head with the Samsung Galaxy Note 7, which was recently unveiled, and is scheduled to go official on a media event in San Francisco on Sept. 6.

"Introducing the new LG V20. The first new smartphone that comes with Android Nougat, right out of the box. Coming soon," the official Android website says.

When it comes to specifications, the upcoming phone is rumored to be powered by either a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 or the slightly faster Snapdragon 821, and then paired off with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM. 32GB and 64GB internal memory variants are also speculated to arrive, expandable to up to 256GB via a microSD card. It is also speculated to offer a 5.7-inch QHD screen that could offer a 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution. A ticker screen at the top of the main screen may also be included.

Apparently, the LG V20 will also feature a dual-camera system on the back that comes with a high-resolution AF and a wide-angle fix sensor, similar to the company's previous model, the G5. It is rumored to contain a 20MP sensor, while the front will have an 8MP one. A fingerprint sensor is also expected to come with the phone and will be located on the back, beneath the dual-camera lens.

It was confirmed previously that the upcoming phone will contain a 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC that will bring "a superior audio experience to mobile for the very first time."

The LG V20 is expected to carry a US$650 price tag for the unlocked version.
