LG V20 release date, specs: Pre-orders start date may be Sept. 14

The LG V10LG

Another flagship debut is right around the corner, as LG plans to reveal the new V20 phablet early next month. However, speculations suggest that the release for the new flagship may soon follow, as the LG V20 will reportedly go on pre-orders as early as Sept. 14.

According to Android Authority, a leak posted on an online forum said the pre-orders for the new LG V20 will go live for T-Mobile subscribers beginning Sept. 14. In addition, the leak also mentioned that the LG V20 will start rolling out on Sept. 23, with at least a $650 price tag.

Since the pre-orders are for a mobile carrier, T-Mobile is also said to include a bundle pack for early purchases. An LG V20 under contract will supposedly come with one extra accessory, and subscribers can choose from a memory module attachment, enhanced hand grip, or a one-year free pass on Hulu and 3 Vudu rentals. The add-on choices relate to previous rumors that the new V20 may also have a modular design, the same as with another LG flagship, the G5.

Meanwhile, LG has yet to come out with confirmed specs details on the V20, although some early leaks say that it may be launched as an amalgam of both the V10 and G5. Retaining the secondary display ticker from its V10 predecessor, the new iteration will also have the same dual-cam setup as its selfie camera. However, the LG V20 is expected to incorporate the same modular base as the LG G5. It is unclear if the add-on accessories for the G5 may also be compatible with the V20, or if it will have its own module lineup.

Under the hood, the LG V20 is expected to carry top-tier specs, and may even launch with a step-up Snapdragon 821 chipset. One confirmed detail is that the V20 will the first non-Nexus lineup handset to carry the new Android 7.0 Nougat right out of the box.
