Live Worship: The Year’s Best In Celebration

What a year it was. With live album releases from Tim Hughes and Delirious? as well as a cracking range of special projects and above-the-bar offerings from the summer festivals, 2009 was clearly an absolute vintage year for live worship.

Kingsway is releasing the very best of the bunch on two superb CDs. These thirty tracks are taken from eight powerful live albums recorded at events across the country – and in the case of Delirious? ‘My Soul Sings’, in front of 20,000 passionate worshippers down in Bogota, Colombia.

Closer to home, the double CD contains tracks from ‘No Shout Too Loud’, recorded at this year’s New Frontiers event, Newday, and featuring Simon Brading, Lou Fellingham and Matt Redman.

‘Have You Heard’ is the latest live album from Church of Christ the King, Brighton, and adds Stuart Townend to the list of contributors. Then there’s Tim Hughes’ epic adventure in the Shepherd’s Bush Empire, ‘Happy Day’.

Last year’s Mission: Worship was a particular winner, and the ‘Revive’ album it gave birth to shows just how good it sounds when 1,500 worship leaders get together and get down to business.

Then there’s the typically powerful and pumped up ‘Not Ashamed’ – this year’s Soul Survivor live album, ‘Glimpses Of Worship’ featuring Ben Cantelon, Aaron Keyes, Chris McClarney and Martyn Layzell and ‘Redeemer’ – a debut live album from Grace Church, Chichester.

Both these final albums add tracks to the compilation that will inspire worship leaders in particular; intimate and accessible, their songs are a reflection of how vibrantly the local church is worshipping these days.

Says Kingsway Director of Business Development, Jonathan Brown, "As a double album Live Worship shows just how healthy the Church is sounding right now. It’s a privilege to help get these songs out and see the Church’s worship continue to thrive."

The album will be released on 15th February 2010 from Kingsway.
