Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is not looking for a replacement to fill in the void left by Raheem Sterling who finally completed his transfer to Manchester City for £49 million.

"There's not a need for a direct replacement. We've brought in a number of really good players, and if you add to that to what we've already got, the balance is good. Players are always going to be wanting to come to Liverpool," Rodgers stated ahead of their exhibition against Brisbane Roar in Australia which is part of their international tour.

"But players will move on. The profile of those we've brought in fit the profile of how we want to work. Plus we have players who will better for last season," he added.

Rodgers also said that he still has a great relationship with Sterling unlike what reports are stating.

"Raheem and I were texting yesterday. Everything with him is fine," Rodgers said.

Sterling and Liverpool had been in a drama-filled situation in the past few months as he was trying to move away from Anfield.

It involved the 20-year-old athlete's camp turning down a £100,000 a week deal offered by the Reds in their attempt of making him stay.

Before the move to Man City, Sterling also said he was not going with Liverpool in their world tour which is currently happening and also missed two training sessions calling in sick on both occasions.

Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard, who is now playing for Los Angeles Galaxy in the Major League Soccer (MLS), said before the move that he was "disappointed" with Sterling's situation since he wanted the budding midfielder to stay believing he can improve more with the club.  

Meanwhile, Rodgers said signing Roberto Firmino from Hoffenheim for £29 million is not to replace Sterling. 

"It's not so much about a direct replacement for Raheem, it's just about improving the squad," Rodgers said.
