Lloyd Webber's Joseph Musical to Hit West End this Summer

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, a new production of the Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber musical, will open in London at the Adelphi Theatre on Tuesday 17 July, following previews from 6 July.

In a repeat of last year's "How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria?", the lead role is to be cast through a prime time Saturday night television show, "Any Dream Will Do". The first episode in the search for a new Joseph aired last Saturday on BBC1.

The production replaces another Andrew Lloyd Webber/Tim Rice hit at the Adelphi. Evita closes on 26 May having played for just under one year.

With lyrics by Tim Rice and music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, this new staging of the record-breaking London Palladium production from the Nineties will once again be designed by Mark Thompson and choreographed by Anthony Van Laast.

This musical is based on a biblical story of Joseph and his uncanny abilities, favouritism, family rivalry and temptation. The story is expected to reach out to young and old alike, with hit songs including "Close Every Door" and "Any Dream Will Do".

Evening performances of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat will show at the Adelphi Theatre at 7.30pm on Mondays and Wednesdays - Saturdays, 7.00pm on Tuesdays.
