"Longmire" may be in for the best season yet, at least that is what the writers believe. 

On Wednesday, series writer Tony Tost posted on Twitter that the fourth season of "Longmire" is already his favorite one since the show started in 2012. 

"#Longmire production for S4 kicks in late March. We're deep into the writing. It's already my favorite season. So much history now in play," Tosh's tweet stated. 

The hit crime drama series was earlier cancelled by its original network A&E after the third season, but the strong fanbase of the show successfully lobbied to have a fourth season aired. This compelled the show's production to find a new home, which led them to Netflix back in November. 

Moving to Netflix means that a lot of developments will happen for the show. One of them is the unrestricted creative inputs, giving the writers more freedom to write violence and explicit language into the script. Each episode is also given an additional 10 minutes this season. 

Actor Zahn McClarnon talked about the return of "Longmire" in his recent interview with Indian Country Today Media Network. According to McClarnon, the show was revived by its fans. 

"I think the reason Netflix picked it up was due in part to the fans," the actor said. "I was told that the producers brought folders full of social media documents showing the support for the show. It's kind of strange; I didn't think it would be that big of a deal, but a lot of the decision-making was because the fans were so supportive."  

The Native American actor also credited social media for making sure that the demands of the fans were heard, thus the show got the chance to be aired again for another season. 

"Longmire" season 4 will likely air sometime later this year.
