The cameras are beginning to roll on the set of "Longmire" season 5, according to an official statement from the New Mexico Film Office.

On Tuesday, the office revealed that production for season 5 of the popular Western-themed crime drama would start toward the end of March, which will run until June, in several locations, including Santa Fe, Las Vegas, Los Alamos, Espanola, Glorieta and Pecos.

In a statement, as reported by Albuquerque Journal, Santa Fe Mayor Javier M. Gonzales said, "'Longmire' is more than just a great show, it truly showcases the incredible beauty of Santa Fe and northern New Mexico, and continues to help grow our reputation as one of the country's leading film communities. We're excited they are coming back and looking forward to seeing what happens next in the season."

The city will also reportedly gain from the production of the show, since around 1,000 background talents from New Mexico and at least 150 New Mexico production crew members could be employed in the duration of the shoot.

Meanwhile, actor Lou Diamond Phillips revealed through his Twitter account that production for "Longmire" season 5 officially began on March 22. The actor, who portrays the role of Walt Longmire's (Robert Taylor) friend Henry Standing Bear, posted a photo of himself and his castmates Katee Sackhoff, Adam Bartley, Cassidy Freeman, and John Coveny sharing some drinks.

Based on the scheduled production, it will be possible to see the release of "Longmire" season 5 sometime in September, just like what Netflix did with season 4.

At the end of the fourth season, fans were left with a cliffhanger when Sheriff Longmire was interrupted by an intruder while he was hanging out with his new love interest Donna Monaghan (Ally Walker).
