Rumor has it that "Longmire" season 5 will be the crime drama's last and that the Netflix hit is going for a jaw-dropper of a twist as a way to end it all.

According to reports, title character Walt Longmire (Robert Taylor) will bite the dust for the ultimate impact while others speculate Vic (Katee Sackhoff) will be killed off instead.

Walt and Vic are expected to be a couple sometime in the future. In the mystery books by best-selling author Craig Johnson, the two ended up together.

The ending of "Longmire" will reportedly involve one of them meeting their demise. Others believe that they will both live to share love and that wedding bells might even ring.

There's no information to corroborate the report and Netflix is yet to speak about the rumors about "Longmire" being cancelled a couple of years after it was picked up.

For those who do not know, "Longmire" was cancelled by its original home network A&E. The cast and crew shopped around for a new home with the help of fans.

"Longmire" officially found its second home in Netflix with the fourth season doing well enough for the show to get a season 5 renewal.

For the next season, the show is going by a tagline that says "It's how you come back that matters," which hints that the concept of homecoming will be integral to the season.

It remains to be seen how this theme will be incorporated, but fans could surely think of ways how. It might also be a slight hint that someone will return.

It is already known that Omar (Louis Herthum) will be back and will be more involved in scenes with Vic. But some reports hope that Hector will be brought back.

On the show's Facebook page, a fan who brought up the idea of Hector's return was urged by the show "never count out Hector." That being said, "Longmire" season 5 might be big on the character.

"Longmire" season 5 has finished production with all episodes set to be available to stream on Netflix on Friday, Sept. 23.
