After Netflix confirmed the return of Sheriff Walt Longmire (Robert Taylor) and the rest of the Absaroka County residents for "Longmire" season 6, speculations about the plot began to circulate online.

While the streaming service provider continues to be mum about the story for the upcoming installment of "Longmire," rumors claim that the final season of the series will feature the romantic relationship between the sheriff and his deputy, Vic Moretti (Katee Sackhoff).

Fans of the series expected to see Sheriff Longmire and Vic's relationship blossom from being colleagues to something more intimate since this plot had been explored in Craig Johnson's "Walt Longmire Mysteries" book series where the Neo-Western crime drama had been based from.

At the end of season 5, the sheriff officially ended his relationship with therapist Donna Monaghan (Ally Walker). It could make it easier for him and his deputy to start their own relationship, but Vic is still pregnant at the end of the season. This could make it a little complicated for the two characters to begin their own love story.

The sixth season of "Longmire" will be the series' last after the three-season run on A&E and almost seasons on Netflix.

Executive producers Hunt Baldwin, Greer Shephard, and John Coveny released a statement regarding the finale of the show that posted by Deadline. "We are grateful to Netflix for the opportunity to compose a closing chapter for these beloved characters that inspires lasting memories," the executive producers stated. "Most importantly, we're committed to delivering a dynamic and satisfying conclusion to our fans that rewards their longtime loyalty."

The sixth season of "Longmire" will also see the return of Lou Diamond Phillips as Longmire's close friend Henry Standing Bear, Cassidy Freeman as the sheriff's daughter Cady, Adam Bartley as the sheriff's other deputy Jim Ferguson, as well as A. Martinez as local businessman Jacob Nighthorse.
