The Los Angeles Lakers are expected to make a lot of moves in the offseason and the man at the helm is no other than general manager Mitch Kupchack.

After two disappointing seasons, the Lakers need to make wise decisions and moves to help rebuild the team into the top caliber mold is has been known for.

All that starts with the upcoming NBA Draft where the Lakers will be picking second. Though earlier reports reveal that the Lakers are not entirely sold on either Jahlil Okafor or Karl-Anthony Towns, it would be foolish to think they would pass on either. Their selection will be based on whoever the Minnesota Timberwolves leave on the table.

Of course, the Lakers can use their pick for trade for someone who Kupchak feels would be a better fit. Then again, they could stick with their pick and see first how he performs and then think trade later.

Once the draft is settled, the Lakers will have to deal with their players whom they can opt to retain or let go.

The list includes Jordan Hill, Tarik Black and Robert Sacre, players who made up part of the frontline of the Los Angeles Lakers. Hill may be traded while Sacre stands to be released. Black, a late acquisition last season stands to be retained considering he performed pretty well.

Other names like Jeremy Lin and Carlos Boozer could be out of the equation as the Lakers try to clean up some cap space to pave the way for new recruits.

With available cap space, the Lakers are expected to make a go at the big names in NBA Free Agency in July. Among the names floated include Kevin Love, DeAndre Jordan, Rajon Rondo and Goran Dragic.

The mentioned free agents are expected to be aggressively sought and who the Lakers end up with is anyone's guess.

In all, everything seems to be interconnected and Kupchak will have a very busy and strenuous offseason ahead. On whether he makes the right moves or not is a mystery for now but hopefully something that the Lakers fans will approve.
