Los Angeles Lakers trade rumors 2016: Miami Heat's Hassan Whiteside coming before trade deadline?

The Los Angeles Lakers are eyeing for a brighter future as this season is another losing campaign for them, and their plans could include the addition of Miami Heat center Hassan Whiteside.

In a report by The Inquisitr, the Lakers are reportedly looking to add Whiteside before the trade deadline strikes.

Whiteside is no doubt an emerging center in the National Basketball Association (NBA) and since he is set to become a free agent after the season, many teams will be interested in trying to sign him away from Miami.

But according to the report, before this happens the Lakers would love to get him through a trade deal that could benefit them in the future.

Los Angeles is a franchise struggling to get in the playoffs in the past two seasons but is filled with budding players who can be key pieces to their rebuilding.

Youngsters like Jordan Clarkson, D'Angelo Russell, Julius Randle, and Larry Nance Jr. are players who can help the franchise become a contender again, although The Inquisitr mentioned that they need a forward or center to have a "competitive lineup."

That is where a trade for Whiteside enters; if the center joins the Lakers, the team will have a great young core once star guard Kobe Bryant retires.

The Inquisitr, using the ESPN NBA Trade Machine, worked out a potential deal that will make Whiteside a Laker.

It includes veteran guard Nick Young, who will be sent to the Heat in exchange for Whiteside and veteran big man Chis Andersen.

Young is reportedly one of the players the Lakers are willing to part ways with this season along with center Roy Hibbert.

If the deal happens, Whiteside will have the chance with the Lakers to sign perhaps his most lucrative contract yet in his young NBA career.
