'Lost Sphear' release date news: JRPG to be released on PS4, Switch and PC in early 2018

Square Enix's Tokyo RPG Factory has announced that "Lost Sphear" will be released in early 2018 on the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Steam. The game will be a follow-up to their debut title "I Am Setsuna" and will have some similarities with the game.

According to PR Newswire, the title will be available for digital download from the PlayStation®Store, Nintendo eShop on Nintendo Switch, and STEAM. A physical copy of the game is also available for pre-order from the SQUARE ENIX Online Store for the PS4.

In addition, those who will pre-order the game will also receive two music tracks as a gift along with their copy of the game. Price is currently set at $49.99 for digital downloads while physical copy and pre-order prices are yet to be announced.

The game tells the story of a boy named Kanata who awakens after a devastating dream to find that his hometown is disappearing. To prevent losing the world forever, Kanata and his comrades must rebuild it using the power of Memory by recreating matter through thoughts.

According to Kotaku, "Lost Sphear" will expand on the beloved features from "I Am Setsuna". Featuring enhanced gameplay and an improved Active Time Battle system made famous by Square Enix's Final Fantasy series.

Since its establishment in 2014, Tokyo RPG Factory has dedicated itself to bring the classic 16-bit style of classic Japanese role-playing games into the modern era. With the release of "I Am Setsuna" in 2016, the studio has firmly set itself to the renaissance of the golden age of JRPGs.

"Lost Sphear" has yet to be rated by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB). Based on the rating received by "I Am Setsuna", the game will likely receive an E for Everyone rating for players 10 and up. Visit the ESRB rating for more details.
