Pro-family groups are hailing Fox's decision not to renew two of the network's most controversial television shows - "The Mick" and "Lucifer."

According to Deadline, the comedy series "The Mick," starring Kaitlin Olson, has been cancelled by the network just after two seasons.

The series, created by John and Dave Chernin, features a young woman who has been forced to raise her wealthy sister's children. The Parents Television Council (PTC) has denounced the show for including children in scenes that involved adult situations.

Deadline reported that the show's ratings had dropped during its second season, averaging at 1.2 among adults aged between 18 and 49 in Live+7.

The PTC welcomed the cancellation of the show, saying: "Every TV network should view the commercial failure of The Mick as an important learning opportunity."

"Hollywood cannot applaud and embrace the #MeToo era while simultaneously asking its audience to be amused and entertained by the same repulsive behavior that spawned the movement to begin with. Even worse, The Mick was using its child actors to deliver much of the most sexualizing program content," said PTC President Tim Winter, according to Christian Headlines.

The PTC claimed that more than 40 companies had stopped running advertisements on the show after being approached by the watchdog group.

Fox also made the decision not to renew "Lucifer," which aired on the network for three seasons. The group One Million Moms has criticized the show for violent and sexual content and for depicting the devil as a "caring, likable person in human flesh."

In early April, One Million Moms urged members to contact Olive Garden to convince the company to pull its advertisement from the show.

FOX chairman Gary Newman explained that the cancellation of the show was a "ratings-based decision," noting that the other dramas that were renewed had a successful late year.

Fans of the show are fighting back against the cancellation with a social media campaign. Twitter users are using the hashtag #SaveLucifer and #PickupLucifer in an attempt to persuade television networks to keep the show on air. The campaign has since gained traction and became the number one trending topic on Twitter last week.

Tom Ellis, who plays the lead character in the show, encouraged fans to keep the campaign going.

"Please read this and be proud people. Because you are being heard. @warnerbrostv and @JBFilms are trying to #SaveLucifer be patient but vocal. There are no promises but there is hope. #SaveLucifer #PickLuciferUp #keepgoing," he wrote in a tweet.
