Netflix officially unveiled the new key art for "Marvel's Luke Cage" early this week.

The poster shows lead star Mike Colter, who will portray the role of the titular character in the Netflix Original series. It can be seen in the poster that Cage possesses invincibility and superhuman strength, based on the bullets that seem to be bouncing off his chest.

The series will be released as part of the "Defenders" crossover miniseries produced by Marvel Television and ABC Studios. It follows "Marvel's Daredevil" and "Marvel's Jessica Jones," where the character was first introduced as Jessica's (Krysten Ritter) friend.

Netflix described the upcoming series as:

"After a sabotaged experiment leaves him with super strength and unbreakable skin, Luke Cage becomes a fugitive who attempts to rebuild his life in modern day Harlem, New York City. But soon he is pulled out of the shadows and must fight a battle for the heart of his city – forcing him to confront a past he had tried to bury."

The new series will follow the life of Cage as he moves to Harlem to pick up the pieces after his failed relationship with Jessica and the death of his wife.

Other stars of "Marvel's Luke Cage" include Mahershala Ali as Cornell "Cottonmouth" Stokes, the owner of Paradise nightclub in Harlem, Theo Rossi as the manipulative street criminal named Shades Alverez who knows something about Cage's past, Simone Missick as police detective Misty Knight, Alfre Woodard as Mariah Dillard, a Harlem politician who also happens to be Stokes' cousin, Frank Whaley as Misty's partner Rafael Scarfe, and Sonia Braga, the mother of Rosario Dawson's character Claire Temple.

Claire is also set to appear in the series to reprise her role as the nurse from Hell's Kitchen, where "Marvel's Daredevil" is set.

"Marvel's Luke Cage" season 1 premieres on Netflix on Sept. 30.
