The Marvel Cinematic Universe has continued to grow on the big screen and on television, the latter owing much to the success of "Daredevil" and "Jessica Jones." Coming up next year is another Netflix series, Luke Cage," which stars Mike Colter as the titular character. Colter later got to discuss the show with Collider and revealed how the show would differ from the two previous Netflix series.

"It's all very similar," the actor explained when asked about the show's comparison to other MCU shows on Netflix, "but at the same time, so very different. I think it's very smart and it will be very refreshing to see the same character examined with a different set of circumstances. The characters are all different, and that makes it very unique."

Colter also explained that while the genre might be the same among the three shows, the storylines are all vastly different. The overall experience the audience got with "Daredevil" is a completely different expierence from what audiences got with "Jessica Jones" and it will be the same trend with "Luke Cage."

The actor explained the benefit of being introduced first in "Jessica Jones." He stated that because the character only guest-stars in "Jessica Jones," the writers and show runners have more freedom to play with his storyline when it comes to his origin and tragic backstory. They would not be bogged down too much by continuity issues.

Colter also explained that despite Disney owning Marvel this influence would not hamper or ruin the show's overall dark and gritty feel. He continued to explain that "Luke Cage" and the other Netflix Marvel shows feel like dark, noir stories with a lot of scenes normally not allowed on cable television.

"Luke Cage" will first star in his own series before joining "Daredevil" and "Jessica Jones" in an epic team-up series known as "The Defenders."
