Luv Esther :: Tanya Wilson Sees Herself in Esther

|PIC1|The musical Luv Esther recently premiered in London at the Hackney Empire.

Tanya Wilson, who plays Esther in the musical, shares with Christian Today the similarities she sees in the character Esther and herself.

Tanya: I read the story of Esther when I was a little girl, and I reread it when I got the part. The thing that struck me first was that she was the original ’girl-power’ girl. I really respected her in the decisions she made and how God influenced her in such a powerful way.

And I think the way I can draw similarities in our lives is that all of us have to take risks at a time. God asks us to take risks and asks us to do some things that may seem a bit scary, and we all have to make a choice... and I can relate to that.

When I’m doing the part- I draw in all the different things in my life that are similar. There are a lot of things that Esther goes through: fear, love – which was easy to relate to because my husband [plays the King]— being scared of things, and being really amazed of the good things that happen in life as well.

I can thank God for the things He’s done for my life— even using me in this show is just amazing.
