The MacBook Air 2016 was expected to be unveiled at the Worldwide Developers Conference or WWDC. However, the event has come and gone, but the laptop is still unannounced.

Macotakara reported the June reveal will happen, but the site did not mention specifically that the WWDC, which ended up being all about the software offerings from Apple, will be that stage.

The Japanese website, however, also claimed that the MacBook Air 2016 will be available only in August even though it will be announced this month.

However, an unveiling for the new MacBook Air is now up in the air, especially since the general expectation was that it will make its debut at the WWDC (which obviously did not happen).

But according to Macrumors, it's either Apple will hold another event this month for the MacBook Air 2016 reveal or the Cupertino-based company will make the announcement with a press release.

As far as the specs and features go, Apple is allegedly phasing out the 11-inch version of the MacBook Air in favor of a 15-inch model. Just like the 13-inch version, the bigger MacBook Air 2016 will reportedly be ultra thin.

Both the MacBook Air 2016 models will purportedly feature "fully redesigned" internal components. Features such as a Touch ID fingerprint sensor, Thunderbolt 3 and USB-C Type ports are also being mentioned.

MacBook Air 2016 specs rumors also suggest the integration of a faster Skylake processor, an AMD Polaris 10 or Polaris 11 graphics card and longer battery life.

Tech Radar expects a massive change in the appearance and design of the MacBook Air 2016 since Apple hasn't been making drastic upgrades on the laptop line in the past decade.

Rumors have it that Apple is looking to make the MacBook Air its lower-specced laptop or entry-level laptop line with the MacBook Pro being the premium offering.
