The MacBook Pro was rumored to be announced this past September, right when Apple launched the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, but this did not come to fruition. However, new updates have suggested that the MacBook Pro 2016 is indeed coming and that it will launch this October.

According to the Apple Post, Apple is planning a big keynote event on Oct. 24, and this may be the time that they launch the MacBook Pro as well as a new MacBook Air. This is, however, if the MacBook Air has not yet been canceled or simply rebranded as a new MacBook Pro variant with slightly updated features such as a better processor.

The report also states that the MacBook Pro will be a significant upgrade compared to previous models. It is expected to come with a more powerful processor, presumably, an Intel Skylake processor, given that the Kaby Lake processors won't be ready until late this year and early 2017.

It is also stated to come with a brand new OLED strip panel supporting Touch ID. This is speculated to replace the traditional function bar, and the information or buttons displayed on it will change depending on the application running. When on the desktop, it will display information such as current battery remaining, Wi-Fi connection, and the time and date.

MacRumors have also stated that Apple has scheduled an event in late October which gives further credence to the Oct. 24 unveiling of the MacBook Pro. However, Apple has yet to officially announce the date and specifics of their events for the rest of the year. As it stands, the launch date reported should still be taken with a grain of salt.

Should the MacBook Pro not launch this October, it is highly rumored to be released in March 2017, alongside a new iPad Pro 2 and a variation of the iPhone SE or a possible iPhone 7s.
