Although it is expected that Apple will come out with a new MacBook Pro, a specific release date has yet to be set. Speculations suggest that Apple's processor choice may influence the release schedule of the 2016 edition.

Since the MacBook Pro is the top-tier laptop lineup for the Cupertino-based tech giant, it is already expected that the new edition will come out with the seventh-gen Kaby Lake processors. However, previous reports have mentioned that tech maker Intel had difficulties in assembly, derailing its launch plans for late 2016. This means that should Apple prefer the newer chipsets for the MacBook Pro, fans may see the new laptop by next year.

However, Apple Insider says that a Kaby Lake processor for the MacBook Pro 2016 will skew Apple's "policy" for its products. The industry follower observed that other than past releases in 2005 and 2006, Apple has maintained its plan of not riding the "upgrade wave" by installing the latest processors for its product lineups.

If Apple is planning a late 2016 release – and a September/October debut – for the MacBook Pro 2016, there is a high chance that the tech giant has used the current-gen Skylake processors for the lineup. However, since Apple has already featured the Skylake chipset for its other MacBook lineups, it will have to add details to make the new MacBook Pro a standout.

There may be a hint on the late 2016 release for the new MacBook Pro. According to rumors, new improvements and features will be seen on the laptop. Even with a current-gen Skylake processor, the new MacBook Pro 2016 will offer more features like the rumored new OLED touch panel, as well as a redesigned body and form profile. In addition, Apple may choose to upgrade its display tech, and offer more configuration options.
