The long wait may finally be over for fans of the MacBook Pro as rumors are rife that Apple will be releasing an upgrade for its successful line before the end of the month.

According to University Herald, the device may come with a Skylake processor as opposed to the Kaby Lake which is expected to release later in the year. Still, this processor packs a lot of power especially when paired with AMD's latest chip. This will allow the new MacBBook Pro to become faster and more energy efficient.

The rumors also suggest that the new laptop will be even thinner than its predecessor and feature a 5K display along with an OLED touch bar. These virtual keys will replace the function keys found on the earlier model.

In terms of the OS, Tech Radar reports that Apple may be customizing its latest OS to suit the MacBook Pro. It is said that a MacOS Sierra 10.12.1 update will be released later in the month in time for the launch.

However, the report hints that the new line will feature a USB Type-C port as opposed to MagSafe, which may pose some inconvenience to those who are already familiar with the latter.

Meanwhile, a report by Mobile and Apps suggest that the new MacBook Pro will feature a Touch ID sensor, a fingerprint sensor, and an organic light emitting diode touch bar.

These modifications support Apple's plan to expand the capabilities of its Apple Pay feature. Also expect an improved Apple pencil to go with the device.

Reports are also hinting heavily that the MacBook Pro will go in the same direction as the iPhone 7 in removing the 3.5 mm headphone jack altogether.

If rumors prove correct, the new MacBook will be launched on Oct. 27. Costs are expected to range from £899 or $1,099, and converts to AUS$1,670.
