The holiday shopping season is fast approaching, and, undoubtedly, there are tech-savvy shoppers who are wondering if there will be a new MacBook Pro coming this year. Given that Apple has launched its new iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, and Apple Watch Series 2 recently, there are fresh rumors suggesting that its laptop lineup might finally be given an update soon.

According to MacWorld UK, the MacBook Pro 2016 is rumored to be launched on Monday, Oct. 24, along with a new iPad. Apple is also said to be updating the macOS Sierra this month. Since the prediction came from anonymous emails, it's best for consumers to take it with a grain of salt.

Still, MacRumors has reported that the new MacBook is likely to be released in late October. According to the report, Apple is developing the macOS 10.12.1 in order to be able to support the features of the device's new hardware. The company is reportedly intending to seed a beta of the OS for developers next week, and it is also planning to have a public beta test. If all goes well, the site surmises that the MacBook Pro 2016 could be ready later this month.

The features mentioned include an OLED touch bar that would apparently take the place of the function keys and Touch ID support. Moreover, the company reportedly plans using AMD's Polaris graphics chip for the high-end 15-inch versions.

Rumors also suggest that the upcoming MacBook Pro might no longer have a 3.5mm headphone jack. Additionally, the laptop is rumored to have hinges that are said to have been inspired by Microsoft's Surface Pro series.

If the rumor about the MacBook Pro 2016 release date is true, then Apple fans can look forward to being able to purchase a new laptop in time for the holidays.
