MacBook Pro 2016 specs, release date: Laptop to come with upgrade USB-C port, promises 40Gbps Thunderbolt connectivity and 5K display

The latest version of macOS Sierra has revealed that MacBook Pro 2016 will get a boost in speed and performance not only from a new and improved processor, but from an interesting source.

9to5mac discovered in the operating system itself that the new version of the MacBook Pro could potentially boast an upgraded version of the USB-C port, which is called USB 3.1 Gen 2.

The site also found about that Apple is looking to improve the functionality of these ports on the MacBook Pro 2016 with new software integrated in the macOS Sierra.

While there was no clear indication that it was for the MacBook Pro, 9to5mac believes that there's no other Mac product this software could be designated to.

BGR says that it will be a big win for MacBook Pro 2016 to don such ports. After all, they boast the capability to deliver lightning transfer speed of 10GB per second.

Additionally, just one USB-C port can support high-resolution external display and read external graphics cards. It also contains enough power to run both.

USB 3.1 Gen 2 also comes in with the Thunderbolt 3, which is regarded as the fastest and most versatile connection to any peripheral device.

It can seamlessly handle full 4K and even 5K display output and provides support for single-cable docking, external graphics, and a lot more without a hitch.

It will ultimately allow MacBook Pro 2016 users to enjoy 40Gbps Thunderbolt connectivity and DisplayPort 1.2. That being said, the USB 3.1 Gen 2 itself already promises tons of new upgrades.

As for other specs to expect on the new MacBook Pro 2016, the laptop is expected to come with an OLED bar to replace the function keys on the keyboard, and a Touch ID.

As far as the release date, the MacBook Pro 2016 is rumored to be launched as early as next month.
