MacBook Pro, Air 2016 release date: New Apple laptops launching late this year?

While the Mobile World Congress is fast approaching, some Apple fans are already looking beyond the event. Reportedly, Apple will be having its own stand-alone event next month and will showcase its new products.

However, it is speculated that the Cupertino-based tech giant will only unveil some "small" Apple flagships, particularly the Apple Watch and a new iPhone. Apparently, new iterations such as the MacBook lineups will have to give way for a later release, possibly toward the end of the year.

According to Yibada, industry observers agree that an overhaul is already needed for Apple's laptop lineups, particularly the MacBook Pro. The Pro iterations, although being refreshed almost every year, have been waiting for a redesign since 2012. Meanwhile, the MacBook Air is also reportedly waiting for a revamp, particularly since some of the later releases of the MacBook have improved specs compared to the current Air iterations.

However, although the Apple laptops have badly needed improvements, this doesn't mean that the tech giant will be unveiling new ones anytime soon. The industry follower said that speculations place an unveiling at this year's annual Worldwide Developers Conference event in June. This means that fans will only be able to see the new MacBook Pro and MacBook Air in the latter half of the year.

Although the new Apple laptops will not be seen anytime soon, speculations about their improvements already float online. According to Apple Insider, there will be new iterations for the MacBook Air, and fans can reportedly select a new 15-incher that will replace the current 11-inch display version. In addition, the new MacBooks will also allegedly carry newer internals such as Skylake processors from Intel, which is the newer chipset architecture already on its sixth generation; upgraded internal storage options; and a sleeker and slimmer profile due to redesigns in the body.
