Elizabeth McCord (Téa Leoni) will have to deal with an angry Russian government in the upcoming episode of the CBS' political drama television series "Madam Secretary."

In "The Rusalka," TV Guide reports that the Secretary of State will encounter difficulty while facing the representatives of the Russians. President Dalton (Keith Carradine) has sent her to act as an envoy between the United States and the world's largest nation, but she will be met with hostility by the other camp. Will Elizabeth find a way to pacify the Russians or will her mission crash and burn?

Meanwhile, Dmitri Petrov (Chris Petrovski) will end up missing and it looks like he is kidnapped. Viewers will see that he is captured for interrogation about being a Russian spy. Last episode, Henry (Tim Daly) succeeded in coercing him to become a mole in his own country. In exchange, he offered the patriot a medical trial to his sister who was suffering from cancer.

At first, Dmitri refused to betray Mother Russia, and decided to return home with his ailing sister. Henry was forced to acknowledge that his major plan was going down the drain, but an opportunity came at the right moment. Foreign Minister Anton Gorev (Yorgo Constantine) revealed to Elizabeth that President Ostrov (Olek Krupa) was dead. Viewers got the idea that it was Gorev who masterminded the assassination, as he has been scheming to take over the former's position.

According to Cartermatt, the episode will be the start of the series dwelling on the US' expanding reach in the Russian soil. The title of the upcoming installment, "Rusalka," is a dead giveaway to this theme, as it refers to a water nymph or a mermaid from Slavic culture. Viewers can expect to see Elizabeth, as the President's chief foreign affairs adviser, spending a great deal of time in her assignment.

"Madame Secretary" airs Sundays at 8:30 p.m. on CBS.
