CBS finally revealed the official air date of "Madam Secretary" season 3.

The network revealed on its official website that the political drama thriller will return for its third season on Oct. 3.

While details about the plot of the season are still concealed, actor Tim Daly posted a photo of their first day on the set of season 3. It showed Daly's character Henry McCord and Tea Leoni's Elizabeth McCord together with their children in what seemed to be a very serious family discussion.

At the end of season 2, Bess and Henry's daughter Stevie (Wallis Currie-Wood) and her boyfriend Jareth Glover (Christopher O'Shea) got engaged and immediately planned to get married. But both Bess and Henry were very worried about the younger couple's fast-paced decision-making regarding their relationship. Will Stevie and Jareth push through with their plans next season?

On the professional front, Bess is expected to reveal her decision regarding the offer of U.S. President Conrad Dalton (Keith Carradine) to be his running mate for the upcoming presidential elections. In the second season finale, she suspected that the POTUS was looking for a new person to fill her post because he was planning to fire her. But she later found out that President Dalton do not exactly want to get rid of her. He just wants to find her perfect replacement in case she says yes to run as his vice president in the next elections.

If she will agree to his proposal, the U.S. Secretary of State must vacate her position. But is she really willing to leave her post to become the second-in-command to be placed under Dalton's control? Knowing Bess, it would be hard for anyone to simply control her.

The network is expected to release more details about "Madam Secretary" season 3 in the coming days.
