It turned out that talks about "Mafia III's" appearance at the now concluded Electronic Entertainment Expo 2015 were false. Now, there are new speculations claiming that the third installment in 2K's third-person shooter game series will be unveiled during the upcoming Gamescom 2015.

The rumors surfaced after Rick Pasqualone, the actor who lent his voice to the game's protagonist Vito Scaletta, expressed via Twitter his disappointment regarding the absence of the game at the E3 2015. Perhaps, the voice actor knew about the game's supposed reveal at the said video game trade exhibit but it did not push through at the last minute. 

The next venue where the title could be launched is at the Gamescom 2015, which will be held in Cologne, Germany from Aug. 5 to 9. If speculations turn out to be accurate this time, then "Mafia III" will be the second sequel of the widely popular and critically acclaimed "Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven" game that was first released in 2002. It is believed to be more realistic than Rockstar Game's "Grand Theft Auto." 

"Mafia II" came out in 2010. While it was considered as another exciting release from the game developer, the sequel did not meet the same critical reception as the original game. 

Earlier reports claim that 2K Games held a casting call to look for three new characters for "Mafia III." The first character is Franklin, a multi-racial Louisiana native who became prominently known in the crime world after returning to his hometown after the war. There's also Tony the gangster, an Italian who leads sports betting operations in Louisiana. The youngest new addition to the game is Mickey, who is known for taking credit for doing bigger jobs which he did not actually do. There are no reports yet whether these roles have already been filled or not. 

If "Mafia III" will be revealed at the Gamescom 2015, the game developer is expected to announce if it will have PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC versions when released.
