"Mafia III," 2K Games' open-world action game in the same vein as "Grand Theft Auto V" and "Saints Row," will officially launch on consoles and PC this coming Oct. 7. According to a report from IGN, consumers who pre-order any edition of the game will also be given the "Family Kick-Back" pre-order bonus.

This special bonus will grant players three exclusive weapons and vehicles that will not be available after the game has been released. Beyond that, the report does point out that there will be three different editions of the game available starting on its launch date.

According to the report, the game was initially set to be released before the fiscal year of 2017 but at the time of the game's initial unveiling, no date had yet been decided.

"Mafia III" will be released with a regular edition that comes with no bonuses and will cost as much as the average current-generation console game. There will be a special $80 deluxe edition that can be purchased digitally, although a limited number of physical copies will be available. This deluxe edition comes with a season pass and DLC.

Fans will also be able to acquire the limited collector's edition which will cost $150. This will come with both digital and physical bonuses as well as a few collectibles, including an art book and a real vinyl of the game's soundtrack. Of course, this vinyl can only be played with a real record player or phonograph.

"Mafia III" is set in the 1960s and players will take control of a character named Lincoln Clay, a mixed-raced adult who was orphaned as a child and later became a soldier in the Vietnam War. When he returned, he moved to New Orleans and this will be the main location of the game, focusing on themes such as equal rights and prejudice against blacks.

According to Gamespot, the game is being developed by 2K Games' Hangar 13 and is being directed by "Star Wars" game veteran Haden Blackman.
