Apart from the films on the DC Comics films slate that are currently in active development and production, many fans are wondering about the status of the sequel to "Man of Steel." Unfortunately, the information about the sequel is still quite scarce, especially when it comes to the script, given that there is no script being written yet.

According to producer Charles Roven, he reportedly revealed to ABC News that "Man of Steel 2" does not have a script just yet, but ideas for the story are being considered for now.

Reports back in August have revealed that Warner Bros. has placed "Man of Steel 2" as one of the films in active development. This was later confirmed by Henry Cavill's agent Dany Garcia. The studio has also put out release dates in 2018, 2019, and 2020 for untitled films, and one of those release dates could be for the second installment.

Fortunately, it seems that there is already a director on board for the sequel. Matthew Vaughn, known for directing the "Kingsman" movies, "Kick-Ass" as well as "X-Men: First Class" was previously in talks to helm the project back in March. Vaughn later on confirmed those reports back in September.

In other news, there has been a fan theory going around regarding the first "Man of Steel" movie which has a connection to the Atlantean hero Aquaman.

For those who loved the "Man of Steel" movie, Clark Kent did not officially become Superman until the latter part of the film. Despite not donning the superhero moniker just yet, Clark Kent was already doing heroic deeds. One of which was while he was working as a fisherman. Clark saved some workers from an oil rig that collapsed in the ocean. However, after making sure that everyone made it out, he got knocked into the water.

Clark eventually made it back to shore, and fan theory suggest that Aquaman was the one who saved him. Jason Momoa has confirmed this theory, learning this from director Zack Snyder.

"In Man of Steel, when Henry is saving the oil rig and he's holding that up, and all of a sudden he kind of floats up on the ocean, he's like 'I had Aquaman save him so that they did cross paths at one point.' So then when Bruce goes 'You ever heard of...Superman?' I have met him and we have crossed paths," said Momoa.

It certainly is an interesting way to tie everything in together in the DC Extended Universe, especially the connection between Superman and Aquaman – even though Clark was unaware of it at the time.

"Man of Steel 2" does not have an official release date yet. For now, Superman will be appearing alongside Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg in the upcoming "Justice League" movie on Nov. 17.
