In a big blow for United, Wayne Rooney has been ruled out of tonight's game due to injury. Rooney injured his hamstring in training and also missed United's weekend game against Liverpool.

However, if the weekend is anything to go by then United have enough strength and depth to do well even without Rooney. They ran out as 3-1 winners over Liverpool, and a similar performance today should see them return back to Manchester with three points.

Today's game will see new United player Memphis Depay return to his former club. He was signed by the Manchester team for GBP 31 million and PSV's manager, Phillip Cocu has said he believes their former player will prove a massive success at United.

Cocu oversaw Depay as he scored 22 league goals last year to help PSV win the Dutch title.

This season Depay has made a reasonable start, scoring twice in his seven appearances so far for United. He scored two goals when United defeated Club Brugge in their Champions League Playoff tie, but has not yet reached his full potential shown last season at PSV.

Cocu has said, "It's normal you need some time to grow, you need a lot of games. Physically he's very strong and he's a quick learner also. And I'm sure when he gets some time he'll get it very fast. He will bring goals. He's a very vertical player who always likes to play towards the goal. Not only will he score goals, he has good vision."
Cocu added, "He will have some ups and downs. I'm sure when he's been playing a few months, I'm convinced he'll get better and better."
