Now even Oscar Dela Hoya has entered the fray, calling on Mayweather to fight Pacquiao. With no progress as of to date, Dela Hoya wants the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight to happen.

And the longer that Mayweather continues to hold out, the more that he believes that Mayweather is simply afraid or scared to lose. And as he put it, who doesn't?

But this meeting, should it ever become official, comes once in a lifetime. Fans and even boxing personalities have long been waiting for this fight and as Mayweather continues to find excuses, disappointment is seen all around.

"It's not easy to challenge yourself. It's very difficult. It's scary. I've been waiting for this fight (Pacquiao vs. Mayweather) for seven years and it's just a fight. Take it. Sign it. This opportunity is never, ever going to happen again," De La Hoya said in a post from Boxingscene.com.

Mayweather continues to hold out, sticking to his stance of not wanting to deal with Bob Arum and Top Rank. Former Pacquiao strengthening coach had already come out in the open and has said that Mayweather does plan to fight on May 2, but it will not be against the Filipino boxing icon.

However, all this remains unofficial. Pacquiao and boxing fans all over the world are still hoping for it to happen. Pacquiao has said that he will wait until the end of the month for a Mayweather reply. But from the looks of it, everything points to something negative.

If so, Pacquiao is expected to choose between Amir Khan or Jessie Vargas as his next opponent on May 2. And from the looks of it, Khan has the inside track.

On the other end, Mayweather is believed to be facing Miguel Cotton once more or Canelo Alvarez.

These are the scenarios that could suffice unless a miracle of biblical proportions forces Mayweather to finally sign the dotted line and fight Pacquiao.
