Previous reports on the state of Manny Pacquiao's list of opponents for April 2016 technically left only Timothy Bradley Jr. as the lone name left.

From a total of three names on the shortlist, Amir Khan and Terence Crawford have seemingly already bowed out due to varying reasons.

For his part, Khan and his camp have opted to focus on Kell Brook for a match that may possibly take place at Wembley Stadium in June 2016.

Crawford, on the other hand, was reportedly set to defend his title in February, making it almost impossible for him to be up and ready by April 9, 2016, the date of Pacquiao's final bout.

To date, Pacquiao has yet to announce his final opponent, although before the latest news came out, it seemed that he had nothing to announce anymore. That was until Adrien Broner entered the fray.

Per Fighthype.com, Broner says that Pacquiao adviser Michael Koncz called him up and inquired about a possible match with the Filipino boxer.

"I hear they want me to fight Pacquiao next," says Broner via Boxingnews24.com. "Michael Koncz actually called me. We're waiting to hear from him."

If Broner is indeed in the running, it does add a bit of a twist. Broner has been known to have close ties with Floyd Mayweather Jr.; hence, in the event of an impressive win on the part of Pacquiao, that never-ending possibility of seeing a Mayweather vs. Pacquiao rematch would once again be in the air.

Of course. Broner is not an easy opponent and scoring an impressive win over him will not be easy. So leaving out that angle of fishing Mayweather out of retirement, it may be best to keep it focused on the matter at hand, which is Pacquiao's farewell fight.

Right now, Bradley is the only one officially up for consideration, although "Desert Storm" did hint that he would prefer to fight Miguel Cotto over a third match with Pacquiao.

With that in mind, the cards now show a different hand and in the even Bradley folds, Pacquiao could end up fighting Broner.
