Manny Pacquiao next fight news: Terence Crawford waiting for the call

Terence Crawford is one of three names that Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao is choosing from, and the American boxer is pretty much eager to see if he may eventually be the chosen one for Pacquiao's last dance on April 9, 2016.

Crawford could benefit immensely if he gets the nod to be Pacquiao's opponent, someone who is virtually an unknown in the boxing world despite his impressive fights.

As far as Crawford is concerned, all he wants to find out is whom Pacquiao will fight. If he fails to land that one, he plans to simply move on (see video below).

Aside from Crawford, also waiting in the wings are Amir Khan and Timothy Bradley Jr.

Khan has been around the longest in the shortlist so far, but promoter Bob Arum is not too comfortable about the idea of Pacquiao choosing his former sparring partner, someone whom they believe will be a hard draw and someone who doesn't exactly have much punch to overcome Pacquiao.

On the other end, trainer Freddie Roach seems to be intrigued with the Bradley but mostly because of his new trainer — Teddy Atlas.

But regardless of who Arum or Roach wants, the final word lies solely in the hands of the Filipino boxer. Pacquiao reportedly has no preference on who to fight so that pretty much makes it a guessing game for now.

The name of his opponent was originally set to be announced before 2015 ends but according to Roach, Pacquiao has postponed that for next year when he returns to Hollywood and start training.

The April 9 joust is allegedly Pacquiao's last fight before he ventures out in the world of politics in the Philippines. Pacquiao will be vying for a senatorial seat in the May 2016 elections in the Philippines and he is a heavy favorite to land in the top 12.

With many of his countrymen questioning his dedication to his legislative duties, Pacquiao has decided to make the April 2016 match his last dance.
