It looks like a Manny Pacquiao vs. Amir Khan fight will happen as Top Rank's Bob Arum said he is already negotiating with the British slugger's side for a bout that will happen likely in Las Vegas next year.

Pacquiao is recovering well from a shoulder surgery last May after his record-breaking fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Arum said the former eight-division champion will be fighting again early next year. As he told The Telegraph, it would potentially take place in the last week of February or during the first two weeks of April facing Khan.

The Top Rank chief executive officer confirmed that negotiations for a Pacquiao–Khan fight are underway.

"I'm in the process of having negotiations with Amir Khan's uncle and his lawyer, Robert Davis, and those negotiations are ongoing," Arum shared with The Telegraph.

He also said that there is no assurance the negotiations will turn out successful, but he knows that everyone involved is doing it in "good faith."

"While those negotiations are going on, I'm not going to discuss any other opponent for Manny Pacquiao," Arum added.

Earlier this month, reports about Russian contender Ruslan Provodnikov's side negotiating with Khan's for a possible November bout swirled, but Arum shot down the rumors.

Arum said Khan assured him that there is nothing happening regarding a possible fight with Provodnikov.

Both Pacquiao and Khan fought only once this 2015, with the Filipino boxer being outscored by his rival Mayweather last May and the British star bagging a decision win over Chris Algieri in his last fight.

Khan already said that he is willing to take on his former stable and sparring mate under Feddie Roach, believing that their respective styles will provide an exciting fight.

Meanwhile, Pacquiao needs to bounce back since he and Mayweather have been criticized for their lackluster performances last May.

The Filipino slugger stepped in the ring with an injured shoulder which slowed him down, making Mayweather look very elusive, leaving the fans displeased.
