Manny Pacquiao next fight rumors: Kell Brook could be an interesting opponent

Manny Pacquiao has repeated ever so often that his upcoming fight with Timothy Bradley Jr. on Apr. 9 will be the last for his career despite some believing that it will not be the last one.

Pacquiao plans to make his April fight his last clash as he prepares to set out for a career as a senator in the Philippines.

Despite that, many are not convinced that this is Pacquiao's last fight. Floyd Mayweather Jr. is one fighter likely to lure him back into the ring, although the odds of that happening are not really good.

Apparently, this is what Bob Arum, Freddie Roach and Michael Koncz believe, all from the Pacquiao camp. How about others?

HBO unofficial scorekeeper Harold Lederman believes that another fighter worth considering is Kell Brook. He is not sold on the idea that the Bradley fight is Pacquiao's last and believes a fight with the Briton could prove to be an interesting one.

From the look of things, Pacquiao could fight again but not as frequent as before. It would only be done for a select few and the logical names right now are Mayweather and Brook.

Unlike Mayweather, however, it could be a matter of how pay-per-view buys Brook can reel in. Remember that Amir Khan was apprehensive on that issue last year when he was still pursuing a big payday against Mayweather and Pacquiao.

After being shunned by the two boxers, Khan may be on the verge of settling for Brook, although nothing has been made official. The two sides were talking but the fight purse split hindered anything from gaining ground.

Now, the latest word is that Khan will be facing Saúl "Canelo" Alvarez in May instead as revealed by Golden Boy Promotions Oscar De La Hoya.

If so, this means that any hope of seeing a Brook vs. Khan fight may have been squashed. If ever a fight ensues, it could be toward the end of the year.

Brook is set to fight this March to defend against Kevin Bizier. After that, his next opponent has yet to be known.

Pacquiao could be an interesting foe, but seeing the selection process done by team Pacquiao, the financial aspect could eventually negate that from happening.
