Even though nothing has been officially announced as far as Manny Pacquiao's final opponent for April 9, 2016 is concerned, all other things related to the planned farewell fight seem to be ironed out.

Such was revealed by Michael Koncz, Pacquiao's adviser who says that they are taking their time right now and that Pacquiao is pretty much caught up with a lot of things this Christmas season.

Pacquiao does indeed have quite a workload, with a lot of commitments ranging from the world of business to politics. He has been engrossed in a lot of activities and, of course, celebrated his 37th birthday last Dec. 17.

Right now, only the date (April 9) and the venue (the new MGM Grand arena) are a certainty for his farewell fight. It remains to be known who his opponent will be.

Left on the list is technically just Timothy Bradley Jr., with Amir Khan and Terence Crawford technically moving toward a new direction. But as everyone may have heard by now, the name of Adrien Broner has been somehow inserted into the mix.

While Broner has come out in the open and claims he was called up by Koncz for a possible fight, someone reportedly from Top Rank has denied the reports per Dan Rafael of ESPN.

But according to Boxingscene.com, it seems that there is really some truth to it, although it involves only Koncz.

Unfortunately, it looks like the plan was not really meant to be made public and more of as an option on the part of Pacquiao's adviser.

"I wish Adrien would not have made the comments he did to the media prematurely. But yes I did personally call him, spoke with him and we discussed the possibility of him facing Manny," confirmed Koncz.

Broner's sudden insertion does make a lot of sense both revenue wise and if Pacquiao's camp are indeed trying to fish out Floyd Mayweather Jr. out of retirement. But to do so, Pacquiao will need to come up with an impressive win to catch the undefeated American boxer's fancy.
