Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather 2 rematch fight rumors: New bout still in the air

Boxing fans would rather see another fight than watch Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao meet again especially after that disappointing May 2 bout in Las Vegas.

Mayweather won the fight handily via unanimous decision but it seems that is has become a battle of pride.

One is that Pacquiao and his camp refuse to admit that Manny lost handily to Mayweather, where the undefeated American boxer simply outboxed and outwitted the Filipino fighter. Many felt that Mayweather was not aggressive but the thing is boxing is a game of wits.

Adding a bad taste to the outcome was the fact that Pacquiao suddenly came out in the open to reveal he had a right shoulder injury, which his camp did not divulge to avoid a cancellation or postponement of the fight. The shoulder injury issue apparently came up when Pacquiao threw lesser punches than his usual barrage.

Mayweather was actually open to the idea of a rematch until he took it back when Pacquiao reasoned he was fighting with an injured shoulder. And for that, Mayweather called Pacquiao a sore loser and said that he had no plans to give Pacquiao a rematch.

In a previous post, Floyd's uncle did give his side on why he believes that his nephew shouldn't even give the Filipino boxer a rematch. If you missed that post, you can view it here.

As far as Pacquiao goes, he is still in the recovery stages but it seems the "Pacman" is not nursing himself diligently back to health.

This was singled out by promoter Bob Arum when Pacquiao reportedly missed a scheduled rehab for his surgically repaired shoulder.

"Pacquiao was supposed to come over to see the doctor and for some reason he decided to cancel it," says Arum in an article from Rappler.com

The reason behind the cancellation was because the Filipino boxer/lawmaker took time to visit Mary Jane Veloso, a Filipino overseas worker who is currently facing a death sentence in Indonesia.

Going back to the rematch, both camps claim it won't happen but there are some who believe it will still happen. Though a Mayweather- Pacquiao II could draw slightly lower interest, the camps could come up with something to make it interesting.

Mayweather claims that his upcoming September fight will be his last but there are some who believe he will fight on. Especially with word that the fight is not on pay-per-view (PPV), it is unlikely that Mayweather will be donning his trunks for the last time.

Mayweather could be prepping himself for something bigger in 2016 and some believe that this will most likely be Pacquiao. After racking in record-setting revenues, a rematch could draw in close to similar numbers but probably not over it.

Still and all, money is on the table and if a lucrative deal is worked out, Mayweather is bound to seriously consider it.
