"Mario Kart 8" fans are expecting that a third downloadable content will soon arrive in the kart racing game. This is in the wake of a series of posts made by Nintendo Europe. Meanwhile, My Nintendo is offering the game's first expansion pack as part of its rewards for North American players.

It was recently reported that the Twitter accounts of Nintendo Europe as well as accounts from France, Italy and Spain all posted on the same date and at the same time a photo of the Kalimari Desert track from "Mario Kart 64," which contains the caption, "Good things come to those who wait. #MK8."

Game fans became ecstatic upon hearing the news, as expected, and hoped that this was not a joke. After all, "Mario Kart 8" is a fan favorite and has sold around 7.5 million copies as of March 2016. On the other hand, the "Mario Kart" series is one of the most successful game series of Nintendo. It is so popular that it bagged six records on the Guinness World Records, which include First Console Kart Racing Game, Best-Selling Racing Game and Longest-Running Kart Racing Franchise.

GameZone added that the recent announcements made by the company do not confirm anything and were probably made to see if game fans would still want a DLC pack.

Meanwhile, My Nintendo in North America was recently updated and fans can now use their Platinum and Gold points in exchange for several new rewards. These include discounts of up to 30 percent on games such as "Mario Party: Island Tour" (Nintendo 3DS), "NES Remix" (Nintendo Wii U), "Super Mario 3D World" (Nintendo Wii U), "Earthbound Beginnings" (Nintendo Wii U), "Fire Emblem Awakening" (Nintendo 3DS) and "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D" (Nintendo 3DS). There are several more games on the list, Siliconera reported.

Five virtual console games are also listed as part of the rewards, which include "Donkey Kong 3" (Nintendo 3DS), "Metroid II: Return of Samus" (Nintendo 3DS), "Super Mario Bros. 3" (Nintendo Wii U), "Super Mario Kart" (Nintendo Wii U) and "Wario Land 3" (Nintendo 3DS). Fans can also use their points to have "Mario Kart 8" DLC Pack 1.

For the meantime, it is a waiting game for fans if a third expansion pack will be released for "Mario Kart 8."
