It looks like patient "Mario Kart 8" fans will receive a surprise from Nintendo in the days to come. Nintendo Europe recently sent out a cryptic tweet that is believed to be hinting at a DLC release.

The company tweeted out a screenshot of the Kalimari Desert from "Mario Kart 64," and captioned "Good things come to those who wait." Making the post far more intriguing is the "Mario Kart 8" hashtag.

Other Twitter accounts for of Nintendo in Italy, France and Spain followed suit. Gamezone points out that they only do so when a post has something to do with business and if an update to a game is being prepared.

Some fans thought that Nintendo simply got the two "Mario Kart" games all mixed up, which is rather strange and a bit embarrassing for the company that should know the difference between its offerings.

Others believe that the post hinted a "Mario Kart 8" DLC is on the way. Seeing that the Kalimari Desert was featured in the "Mario Kart 7," it won't be a stretch to see this track on the current game as well.

At the moment, nothing is confirmed yet. Nintendo has not followed up on the said post as well. However, fans hope that "Mario Kart 8" will get some DLC love from Nintendo sometime soon.

From August 2014 to April 2015, Nintendo has released three expansion packs for the game. The last "Mario Kart 8" DLC released more than a year ago added characters Dry Bowser, Villager and Isabelle to the beloved kart racing game.

If a DLC pack is indeed on the way, it will surely be rewarding to those who have been twiddling their thumbs for a "Mario Kart 8" expansion pack. Whether or not a "Mario Kart 8" DLC is on the way, fans will need to do a bit more waiting.
