Nintendo just seems to be on a roll the past year, and their momentum has not stopped. The Switch is selling more and more, the Nintendo Labo was released, Switch Online will be offered soon, and recently, a new "Mario" movie has been revealed. In addition to all these, they are apparently making a "Mario Kart" game for the mobile phone.

Nintendo recently made the announcement on their official Twitter account. "The checkered flag has been raised and the finish line is near," reads the tweet. "A new mobile application is now in development: Mario Kart Tour! Releasing in the fiscal year ending in March 2019."

Almost every important detail, for now, has actually been mentioned in the tweet already. First, they confirm that a "Mario Kart" game is coming to mobile phones. Second, the game is actually already in its development stages. Finally, they plan to release it during the end of their fiscal year, which they also indicate as March 2019.

"Mario Kart Tour" the mobile game is actually the fifth in Nintendo's mobile games. The previous titles included "Super Mario Run," "Fire Emblem Heroes, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp," and "Miitomo." All of these have only been recently released and had a considerable amount of downloads on both iOS and Android.

Given that this would be the first "Mario Kart" game for mobile, some expectations have to be met. After all, the racing franchise is one of the most successful spin-offs from "Super Mario." Putting in both a racing game, which quite popular on mobile devices, plus the elements of "Mario Kart" in it, the game should just be as great as the game on other devices.

Nintendo will release more details about the game soon. For now, it is great to know that they have already planned this out. It can easily be assumed that this new mobile game will be coming out for both iOS and Android.
